Applying for a Work- & Residence Permit (Sweden)

Applications for a residence and/or work and/or study permit are referred to the Swedish Migration Board in Sweden for decision. The Embassy of Sweden in Manila accepts applications, interviews applicants and makes sure that all relevant documents are submitted and attached to the application forms before forwarding them to the Migration Board.

IMPORTANT: Please read the instructions below carefully.

Your application will NOT be forwarded to the Migration Board in Sweden until it is complete, so make sure to submit all required documents with your application.

Please refer to the links to the right for information on necessary documentation, etc.

Please note that the applicants will be interviewed here in the Philippines and that the reference person will be interviewed in Sweden.

Application fees

The non-refundable application fees are to be paid on or before the day of the scheduled interview. The fee should be paid into Savings Account 00-1463-18219-8 of the Embassy of Sweden via any Equitable PCIB Branches using a triplicate peso deposit slip. The receipts should be presented to the Embassy when applying for the permit. (Fees are subject to change based on the exchange rate from Sweden.)

How to get an interview:

Applicants should come to the Embassy in person with the complete list of requirements. If complete, the Immigration Officer will then give an appointment slip with the date and time for the interview. Applicants from distant provinces can also send the documents to the Embassy in advance via courier or their authorized representatives. The Embassy will contact them on when to come for their personal appearance and interview.

All applicants for Residence Permit based on family ties are interviewed by the Immigration Officer in English. Please inform the Embassy well in advance if an interpreter will be necessary.

The Reference person will be contacted in Sweden by the Migration Board to make arrangements for his/her interview.

Applicants for interview must be in the Embassy at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time.

How long does it take?

The processing time of the Swedish Migration Board varies and depends entirely on the applicant's intended place of residence in Sweden. Current waiting times can be seen at www.migrationsverket.se. There is no need to follow up on an application. The Embassy will immediately notify the applicant by mail as soon as the decision from the Migration Board is received.
How to claim an approved residence permit:
The permit can be issued upon presentation of a valid passport and one recently taken passport sized photo (non-digital) and should be submitted strictly from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Upon submission, the passport will be released the following visa day. Immigration Section is closed on Fridays. Applicants from distant provinces, passport and photo can be sent to the Embassy by courier together with 300,-Php courier fee. The fee will be used for the Embassy to send the passport with the permit back to the applicants' address in the province. Please do not forget to indicate the complete mailing address and contact number.

Furthermore, as mandated by Executive order No. 346 of the Philippine Government, Filipino emigrants are required to make proper arrangements to attend the Pre-Departure Orientation Seminars (PDOS) at the Office of the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO). www.cfo.gov.ph

The Embassy is open for Immigration matters strictly from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Monday to Thursday.
